Irish Night at the Polish Hall
The Annual Irish Night at the Polish Hall was a hit as usual. The corned beef & cabbage, cooked by master chefs Roy & Wally, was truly the best I have ever eaten. It's a secret recipe that takes 2 days to put together. It was awesome. 100 people showed up and it was truly a great time. A DJ was on hand, people got to dance and burn off some calories. People got to catch up on town news and discuss the lousy weather. Attached is a photo album from the festivities. If you click on the picture, it will take you to the album. On a side note, on channel 56 WLVI, the Annual St. Patrick's Day breakfast in South Boston is on this morning. A true Massachusetts tradition.

For someone who keeps stating over and over that he is running on his own accord, it is hard to believe you Mr. Baker. Its’ hard for the voters to swallow especially with these pictures being posted. Whether or not anyone feels different about this statement, it definitely gives an impression it does exist. What’s next ? A Lenny sign with both you and Ms. Furno’s campaign sign’s both attached. I hope not
Driving around town, its’ easy to see the division line being drawn in the sand. Either its’ Laura/Poulin signs together or Baker/Furno signs together. I haven’t seen any yet in our BOS yards, speaks volumes doesn’t it ?

Good afternoon Mr. Lincoln,
I'm going to need to make some assumptions regarding your comment. I'm assuming you have some "issues" with some of the people in the photo's. That's the beautiful thing about living here only 6 years, I don't know the backrounds of most people. I assume they all mean well until they prove to me otherwise. I never believe everything I hear, I like making my own assessments. Level playing field to start for everyone.
I can guarantee you Lenny will not be putting up a Baker/Furno sign.
I can also assure you that 2 out of 3 selectmen have my sign. I know they are checking to see if their is any "ethical" problem posted them on their properties. I totally understand/respect that. I'm also pretty comfortable I have their support. In the end, if elected, I will go over the same information as my fellow board members. Based on that info, not rumor mill, I will use my 1 out of 5 vote based on the facts/rules/bylaws. It will not be based on who is bringing it forward. If that's what folks are looking for, I'm the wrong guy.
On a side note, I would like to publically apologize to the Mercure's for letting your "song" through. It was insulting and it shouldn't have happened. I'm sure Mr. Lincoln would agree. Mr. Lincoln posts some great comments, but, the "song parody" was hurtful and that's not what this site is about. With his/her permission, I'd like to delete it.
I enjoyed seeing people in our good town having fun. I was proud of the way that many were being good sports and wearing Leprechaun
hats. In my opinion, these are the memories and events that make a town think of the good heartedness of their townspeople.
Well said Joyce. The PH is one of the last places in town to have a get together. They recently have had to make some "mandated" renovations that is taking it's financial toll. I hope they survive it.
I enjoy the Polish Hall,
I am not Polish, but I say that I am thankful that the Polish Hall has welcomed all of my friends, friends, and neighbors. We have had wonderful times there, Please contact me if there are further problems that we can help to solve.
Ethical problem? I guess you are naive. That is Politico-Speak for "I support you, or at least I want you to think I support you, but I don't want to go on record, in case you lose".
That is the oldest trick in the world!
A caution to all 4 candidates. Run as yourself, not with a 'running mate' Teams or slates of candidates leave people with a bad taste in their mouths. For every vote the other person brings to you, you may take a vote away from the other person.
Plus, I am sure you will have lots of people making phone calls for you over the next couple of weeks. - Your supporters are well known for their phone calls.
Isn't town politics fun?
... please keep posting !! I can take it... Your famous last words !
Evidently you can’t …. Are you taking some heat ? It seems when there’s a pleasant comment posted everyone is happy ( as long as it’s what they want to hear ) … when it’s not pleasant , of course the defenses come up. Impossible you say ? What he/she said could never have taken or is taking place in our beloved town ? This is no different when one holds an elected office such as selectman. You can’t please everyone … even when the kitchen gets hot.
Abe has stated some facts and some opinions but has not lied ! They can be verified if one really wanted to research the various topics. I’m putting information out there for people to read. They can interpret this all by themselves, and can believe it or not as well. No different than an editorial page in a newspaper … freedom of speech right ? In some instances, the truth hurts … but we can’t change it.
I disagree with you about our BOS looking into any “ethical problems”. They have put signs up in the past for candidates such as Gikas, Houle, and have even stood outside with signs on election day. Will they again ? Hmmm…. I guess only time will tell come April. I don’t believe their waiting on the side line as the “Politico-Speak” comment suggested as well.
As far as the song lyrics, if your going to paint yourself as a townie, hillbilly, native, or what ever term one likes, make sure you can take how one is going to be perceived. Just trying to add some humor to it all … just like a leprechaun hat !
Again, this site may be viewed by our children. I would think we would rather have community pictures posted such as Parades, school events, community day, or even senior activities rather than promoting drinking socials. This is suppose to be the new positive blog site for the Town … right ? Maybe next time, we can be a bit more selective with the pictures when events such as this are reported on.
BTW … I forgot to sign my response to Mrs. Milliken ( the 1st comment ), and just wanted to let her know that she has my vote come election day .

Abe,
You have given me a lot to think about. It would be childs play to just not post certain comments. Trust me I'm not ducking them. I'm not sure I understand your 1st paragraph. It's hard keeping track of all the comments being posted. The picture of "Papa" took on a life of it's own. Poor guy doesn't even drink. He trys to be funny and it bites him in the glutamus maximus.
Trust me, there will be plenty of kid stuff (pictures) posted. Slow season as you well know.
I'd like to reach out to Phil who posted a comment on the Blog regarding the pictures posted here. I do understand what Phil is trying to say, but, the climate that has been created by the Blog, where everybody is scared to be seen anywhere, is something I'd like to change. I'm just trying to keep it real. 100 citizens of Millville decided to show up and celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It was a good gathering and I didn't find anyone out of control. Irish Night is a tradition in Millville. So is the porketta for the Fireman's Association this April. Responsible adults will handle it properly.
And one more thing, I have found the members of the Polish Hall to be some of the nicest people I have ever met. Truly people you would share a foxhole with. They watch out for each other and the citizens of Millville. And I believe that is a long standing tradition.
