The poor value to cost ratio of Millville Dispatch is now exceeded by the outragous cost to value ratio of the Senior Center. Millville taxpayers are victims of an incompetant committee.
Well Stan, you missed another meeting of the Senior Center Bldg.Committee. I certainly didn't expect you to come to give some positive input, but I was, waiting for you. People like you are so very very sad. This committee has worked so hard, and to the best of their abilities, how dare you even think to criticize something you know nothing about. We have been charged to give the Seniors a better, safer, and more desireable place to go, we have done just that. We all know that the smiles on their faces will be more than enough thanks to those of us that have worked for so long. I can only hope Stan, you can be so proud of your accomplishments.May your days be full of joy, try being a positive contributor to this town that we love so much. I am not afraid to sign my name Paulette Mercure, vice-chairman of the Senior Center Building Committee
Let's spend our money wisely, I hear you can get a lot of satisfaction for just $5 bucks on the corner of High and Arnold Street...at least that's what Mikey says.
On a related note...it appears the most famous tree in Millville, the one in front of John & Betty Deans house (the one with all the sneakers hanging in it), might be at risk while trying to make the corner at Hope St delivering the Senior Center. I'm told there is much history to that tree. If anyone has any ideas how to tie it back so no harm comes to it, please share. Need to move quick.
Dear Missy Mercure, The senior center specifications, along with the amenities offered, are simply not inline with current building costs. They are excessive, resulting in the facility being an ugly, overpriced, tax wasteful project. Congratulations to those on the committee who worked hard to the best of their abilities. Their effort and your effort are not my issue. Mine is simply value to cost. Your committee and Millville would have been better served with a collection of folks with enhanced capabilities, instead of the "old gang". Compare the cost per square foot of the Millville senior center with others in the local area. You will have an existential experience. Grant money is not "free money" . It is my tax dollars, and value is important. Many Millvillians fail to realize this.
Stan, Sounds like you should have gotten off your ass and joined the committee. My bet is that your a Monday morning quarterback who sits on the sidelines and just likes to piss and moan. Unless your willing to give of your time, attend meetings and do what needs to be done, keep your unproductive comments to yourself.
Hey Stan sounds like you have alot of time on your hands .I need help in one week laying three hundred and fifty feet of pipe in a trench and pulling wire for the well at the new senior center. We do not need criticism we need donations and man power. Are you game? P.S.We might need a good I.T. person do you know of anyone? Maybe I will call the Hopedale School Dept.NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I think Stan has some of HER facts wrong . As with any grant project she is right in that they are costly because of all the strings attached. I quess as a tax payer we are better off letting Blackstone, Uxbridge, N. Smithfield or any other town use the grant. Hows that help our taxes?? As far as cost value ratio is concerned look at the Millville cost on the tax rate. Not bad I think on a million dollar project !!! On another note: where were you on that 40 b Deal on Hope Street ???? Not bad ha, buy a piece of land from the town for $60,000 and get a $ 500,000 grant to own your own 6 plex . Thanks Dick Mercure. P.S. If you ever have any positive input, you know how to get a hold of me.
Today I was accused of being Stan Wampler. For the record I am not Stan. I hope the best for the Senior Center though I did not make a donation outside of my tax bill each quarter.
I truly hope you're not "Stan" JDW. Many of you "oldtimers" have "labeled" your long time friends badly. You have been listening to the wrong people and are breaking hearts. You should not believe everything you hear and trust your heart.
The new people to town are not from Hades as advertised. Your "friends" have given them a chance and understand their hearts are in the right place.
Maybe you, and all the fine people who have much history here, should do the same. We're not trying to take over, we're trying to volunteer and help. Don't mistake "generosity" for "dictatorship". We're stepping up because no one else is.
For the record, I am not Stan either, and have explained this to Brothers Keeper via a separate email. I think Mr. B. has the IT stuff taken care of, but Dave, if you had asked, I would have been more than happy to help out if appropriate.
For the record my contract expired with Hopedale some time ago, but I left the IT operation in fine hands! Thanks for asking.
MJB, you are on record as not being "Stan"...I think you can understand how people may automatically blame you...I'm pretty sure I know when you are telling the truth and I believe that to be the case here...
I give you way too much latitude... but, then again, I extend my hand to everyone...I don't stay mad forever...unless it has to do with my kids...that's a long road back.

I agree with Stan. The SC is overpriced. You all don't want the truth spread around town.
