BOS Meeting at the Millville Police Dept.

What a great idea to have the Selectman's Meeting at the new and improved Police Dept. Chief Landry greeted everyone and addressed the town on what has been going on at the MPD. We were introduced to a new part time officer, Alison Allaire (spelling ?). We were told we have a new police cruiser. Back to the old traditional black & white. We got to inspect the new 911 system that goes live tomorrow...very impressive. Roy Sullivan has been named the Senior Citizens Advocate from the MPD. This spring, the MPD is going to hold a "Police Academy" for the citizens of Millville. It's intended to instruct people how to work with our Police Dept. to keep us all safe.

Chief Landry has an open door policy. He would like to meet everybody. Come down and introduce yourself. You will be pleasantly surprised...I guarantee it.

Millvillema.net to support the BMMA

There is an option for this website which allows for Google advertisements (Adsense). Apparently there are proceeds that are generated. I'm sure the proceeds are determined by web page visits, advertisement hits (while visiting Millvillema.net you double click on an add) etc...

I have instructed Adsense to send all proceeds to the Blackstone Millville Music Association (I have received the BMMA's consent). Every little bit helps. So please visit often and if an ad tickles your fancy, please click on it. Even if it's just to check it out.

Breaking News !!

Word has it that Onnie's & Nonnie's will open March 5th...please mark your calender and support them...it will be nice having them back.

Submitting Articles

If you would like to post an article, please send it to brotherskeep@gmail.com. Obviously it will not be published if it's about personal attacks. If it's about an issue in town, let's air it out.

I've been getting emails from the Blog Webmaster today. He is obviously upset and threatening new attacks on me. There's something new....geez. It's kind of funny back when the recall was in full swing by the "Patriots", the webmaster told me I should pull papers and run for selectman. Now I go ahead and do that and he's having a coronary. It's a no win situation.

Back to the recall. Does anyone find it odd that not one of the "Patriot's" ran for office ? I mean what was the master plan if the recall went through ?? Who was the candidate ??

Much has happened in the last year. Let's discuss it. Much that has/was discussed over this past year was done on the Call website. I thought it was fair and balanced. The Blog is pretty much one sided. Some comments submitted get edited. Anybody dares to post a dissenting opinion gets lambasted by Gob, Ditz or someone elses name the webmaster uses (I wonder how their families feel about that). That will not happen here. Let's lay the facts out instead of mistruths & conspiracy theories.

Blog Corrections

One of the best comments today was from the Village Idiot/Webmaster/MJB who was trying to call somebody out on their character...priceless...enough said on that one. OK let's address the conspiracy theories, non truths, etc...

  • "Is this the person (Baker) who runs a business out of his garage? There is more activity at his garage than the Home Depot receiving dock. Has Mr. Baker informed the town he is running a business out of his garage.?" - My office/company is based in Webster, Ma. No business is run out of my house. On occasion, I have some computer parts that need to be cleaned. My daughter cleans them here and then packages them. Buckley knows I don't run it out of my house. We met back in 2004/2005 to see if we could do business. At the time my office was in Sutton.
  • "We have been involved with the Band for many years. We can tell you that the person you call "Da Trute" is not well-liked. He is tolerated. He is tolerated for the sake of his child. His loud and obnoxious behavior is not the example of behavior that we like modeled for our children. We are all hopeful that when his child graduates, we no longer have to see or interact with him." - First of all, if it was an actual person who posted this, I may not be their favorite, what can I say. What I will say is this. I am a volunteer as is everyone else. I donate time, money, have organized fund raisers, worked at Gillette, the Home Show, etc...at times, we struggle for enough volunteers to work events, be it fundraisers or band competitions. There are some that view the BMMA as a social hour...I do not. I am there to volunteer and it's for the kids. If it was an actual person (not one of Buckley's characters), and they are about what volunteers they can "tolerate", that may be the reason we sometimes struggle for volunteers.
  • I heard over the weekend that Mr. Baker was trying to coerce members of the Police Department to sign his nomination papers in exchange for coffee and donuts. I heard the "box of joe" was poured right down the sink. I am very happy that our Police Officers did not accept Mr. Bakers gratuity. I was told the officers politely told him "No Thanks". I find it a little funny that last year all of the commotion with the former Police Chief was orchestrated by Mr. Baker and now he is trying to be their buddy. Nice going Millville Police, don't bow down to the Queens (and Twin Pond's) political antics. - This one is a beaut. I showed up at the police station at 9:30am on 2/9 to meet with Chief Landry. Unfortunately he was out on a call. So I had a Box Of Joe I had brought along (I never go empty handed)...told the dispatcher I'd like to leave the coffee for whoever wanted it, I left it in the back. The best part is the claim I was soliciting signatures...since I didn't make my decision until that afternoon, It was an outright fabrication. I did go collect signatures on Friday night & Saturday. Had 29 before I even canvased my neighborhood. And then our Town Moderators dog ate my nomination papers (you can't make it up). Twinponds raises labs (I own two, they are beautiful dogs), the culprit was a Golden Retriever. Another total fabrication. So with my nomination papers in the digestive track of a canine, I had to run around again on Sunday. I went around with the Town Moderator since he was in the same boat. My friend Dave Stanley was nice enough to help me out of a jam on Sunday & Monday, he collected signatures on the other side of the bridge (many of these people signed them on Friday & Saturday). We collected somewhere in the neighborhood of 46 signatures. It gets better, I find out Monday morning my signatures collected on Sunday are not going to be accepted. I'm pretty comfortable there was something a little unethical going on there, but, I told my wife I'm going to take the high road. I hopped in my car, went to town hall, and took out papers for the 3rd time. I took the day off and collected signatures on Monday. When I turned them in Monday at 4:30pm, I made the comment "if your looking to break my spirit, you're going to have to do better than that".
  • We have a Town Clerk who has twelve years of experience and does a good job. Now, Kim Milliken, a Twin Ponder is challenging Sue Macnamara for that position. This group of people from the Estates seem to think that they are God's gift to the world! Just because they live in big houses with big mortgages they think they are all knowing. - So you're saying Kim can't run for office because you like Sue MacNamara ? As an fyi, people of the Afonso neighborhood voted for Sue Mac's raise when it came up at the Annual Town Meeting. Sue, as well as anyone else, should run a good campaign, tell folks why we should vote for her, and may the best candidate win. Exercise your right to vote. Let the people decide.
I'm done for the day...this will not be my life I can assure you...unlike somebody else we all know.

New Millville Senior Center

Well, after a generous grant & numerous meetings, we have finally broken ground for the new Senior Center. Many attended the ceremony including our Town & State Government, contrary to what was reported on the BLOG.

While we're on the subject of the BLOG, it's not about responsible reporting, it's more like the National Enquirer. It's not about the truth, it's about you slowing down to check out a staged car wreck. We hope to change that. We're not going to resort to name calling, insulting peoples spelling prowess, etc. We'll just fix the inaccuracies with the truth. I would prefer that we don't give the webmaster even that much attention, but, the lies are off the charts. Unless you're into fiction, then hey, the BLOG will be a good read for you. For the rest, we'll set the record straight.

The BLOG's reign of cyberspace has gone on long enough. Because after all, people in glass houses (or apartments) shouldn't throw stones.

Computer equipment donated to BMR

As some of you well know, the Blackstone Millville District School System has to fight every year for funding to educate our kids properly. The Commonwealth measures what communities spend each year per student. Seems to me to be a prudent way of seeing how you actually stack up. You would think it would eliminate the argument about there being to much "administrative waste" and other weak arguments. Unfortunately it doesn't. It's my sad duty to report we are below average on what we spend per student ($6,298 per student)...to put it in perspective, Cambridge spends $17,459 per student, Framingham is $10,239, Marlboro is $7,235 (my hometown, and NOBODY speaks English, there is not a single Frenchman on French Hill, it's really sad)...

The good news is our schools do a hell of a job...every student passes MCAS. We have a world class music department. We have sports teams that compete at a high level. We should all take some pride in that. Unfortunately people equate success with over spending. It's a battle every year come budget time. I hope, via this website, to keep folks informed about what is happening regarding the education of our children. To me that should be the Districts #1 priority. You reap what you sow.

In the spirit of supporting our school district, I was able to donate some computer equipment (servers & storage) to the BMR School System. I was happy to do it and I hope they will take me up on my offer to donate more. What they really could use is more man power. A 2 man show supporting all the IT needs of this school district is a mammoth job. Kudos to Brad Monroe & Phil Toupin. You want to talk about stress.

Our school system needs your support. Don't depend on your neighbor. Please research it at http://profiles.doe.mass.edu/ppx.aspx . It will be an eye opener.
