Quite honestly, if you are not proactively making sure you are getting your message out to the voters anyway you can, you need to blame the person in the mirror. It was posted on this site Monday. To say you didn't know the opportunity existed is disingenuous, especially in this small town.

Candidates that have been proactive and have taken the time to prepare a statement, and then took the time to deliver it, should not be punished because some made the decision not to participate.

Just an observation, when I was leaving Town Hall after recording my spot, this was approximately 6pm, I saw Sue McNamara pulling in. So her stating that she didn't have time to record a spot is a bit disingenuous at best. It appears procrastination may have been the culprit, not Tom P. Let's keep it real folks.

If it is true that all of the candidates were not given an equal chance to tape their intoductions to the registered voters of millville, the taping should not be aired.

I think it is a shame that the BOS would do this, but I am not surprized.
Its bad enough that Mrs m has harrassed her neibors using town money to do so.
It seems that she does not have to follow the same rules and regulations that the rest of the towns people do.She does have at least FIVE unregistered vehicles on her property. I thought tyou are only allowed to have ONE.

Mr Baker I hope if you are elected to the BOS that you do not follow the same practices of the current BOS.
I will be voting for Mr Poulin.
I think he will be fair and unbiased in his decision making.

For your information Ms. MacNamara works in the Assessors office which is not in the main office. Yes she is town clerk and in the office with the television but would you recommend her to stand in the middle of the office for 5, 10, 15 minutes to watch the "pages" turn while the "office rat" sits at her desk and keeps track of Ms. MacNamara's every move! Please, There really should have been a letter or at least a phone call make to each person who is running!

If this was not the case the tape should be pulled immediately! We would hate to run up any additional lawyer bills due to possible lawsuits!

I have to admit I don't know what "muchraking" is...it is not in my dictionary...I'm guessing it means making insults. If that's what you are insinuating, on that point you are wrong.

As far as your opinion that I'm "hiding behind a computer" while Charlie is going door to door. That is a personal choice. Showing up at somebodies door, unannounced, is not something I do. Again personal choice. I document what I'm about right here for people to read at their leisure. Or they can watch my cable spot.

The way people communicate has changed. In my opinion for the better. I like documented statements. No room for embellishments.

On 3/17 I had made plans to make my own video since the Cable Commission wasn't offering the usual forum. I was told by someone that if I made the tape and submitted it, they had to play it. When I called town hall the following week looking for the Cable Chair's number, I was told the BOS was sponsoring a "Meet the Candidate" taping. I was then told later by someone that all pertinent info was on cable access and was also told it was on the towns website. I checked out cable and there it was. I did not receive a personal invite. I called town hall again and requested the info and posted it here on Monday. I can't comment on Sue Mac's assertions. I'm pretty sure cable access plays all day in that office though.

I'm going to assume you're new to this. Comments are posted here by some of the +250 people who visit this site each day. I just recorded a cable spot yesterday that should answer all your questions about me and what I'm about. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I have probably stood next to the post office campaigning more than anyone. I can be reached here at www.millvillema.net. If elected, I will have a dedicated cell phone for town business. No need to put the cart before the horse. I started this website. I gave the citizens of Millville a forum to discuss town issues.

Do you all realize that this is a small town political race? I have run selectman campaigns in other small towns, even when there were actually real issues! The issues here are minnimal and you have resorted to muchraking. I applaud Mr. Poulin for getting out there on foot (not hiding behind a computer) and actually meeting the people and answering their questions. Who are you, Bob? What do you do? Where do you live? How can I get in touch with you if I have a problem? And most importantly, What can you do for me and my town? These are questions you have not answered, and all the cheesy Christmas lights in the world on your signs can't win my vote without even knowing who you are. I see Charlie campaigning, I see Karin Campaigning. Where in the world is Bob Baker?? I'm beginning to think the answer to that is "Who Cares!"

Funny story for you, I remember so many years ago, being at a selectmen meeting..in fact it was 2 nights in a row meeting. The board had appointed Mr. Buckley to another term of running the dispatching, and then rescinded it the next night. I held my hand to speak and was not recognized,so I stood up, and Mr. Czarn threatened to have the police take me out....how wild that would have been. I still spoke of how poorly that job was handled,to think I was defending Mr. Buckley and the great jog he had done.

I understand Bob, that you don't want to edit some of the responses, and rightfully so. I just wish we could get off the "Whoever CAMPS " bit. I am talking to responders not the webmaster. I love " don't get into personalities" heck,Personalities is what make everything happen. You either like someone or don't HELLO !!! Something or not HELLO !!!. The jest of this comment is that MEM and I have HOPEFULLY fostered the spirit of Millville to the so called newbies that, you need to be good neighbors first, support town functions whenever you can, and don't sit on the side lines and complain,but get involved as everyone has some good things to offer. That's what I think make the town what it is !!! When someone is in need, put your shoulder to the wheel and help, it won't hurt. As we all know Mr. Poulin has a plumbing contracting business here in town and I do not know if he has a special permit to run his business on Fisher St.Charlie recently put a bid in for changing a water heater at the Millville Elementary School.His bid was two thousand dollars more than anyone else.He said that if knew what the bid was,he would have bid lower.In my opinion I think this practice is illegal.I could not trust a person with this type practices to run our town.This speaks volumes about Charlie.Remember vote APRIL 2 Baker & Furno

Yes I do remember Mr. Shea … I always remember those who I have voted for in the past. He was a good selectman who brought honor to the BOS at the time. Mr. Zorn and Mr. Desjardins made it very hard for this past BOS to function with their bickering and fighting. Yes … I remember Mr. Shea . This also reinforces what we are agreeing about … run for the right reasons. The voters turned out then … I’m sure they will turn out again.

I am not anyone's campaign manager. Probably the last campaign I really had a management role in was back in 1986. Maybe you remember it. That was the year Gary Shea beat Mary Ryan for Selectman. I will let you figure out who's campaign I worked on!

My advice to all of the candidates, and backed up by an email to mr. baker: Get out, meet the people, and tell them why you want to be selectman. Answer their questions honestly, and directly. Remember, all politics is local. You need to ask them for your vote (with acknowledgement to the great Tip O'Neil).

I’m not bitter … I’m just sick and tired of the BS which keeps recirculating out of Camp Mary. I could care less if the blobmaster wants to play campaign manager, or Timmy has a photography hobby. We are sick of the antics which plagued this town for many years. Sick of people acting like saints when they were not. Unfortunately, some of them still reside in our town, and can’t get over losing “their” grip on the town. The taste in our mouths has been sickening while we waited patiently as taxpayers for change. We now have a chance to keep moving this town in a positive direction. Our current BOS has started this change, and we, as voters, can help them by casting our votes come April.

Don’t mix religion and politics … I agree. Much better now than how it use to be … no you say … Abe has it all wrong again. Years ago, I witnessed “Vote Mike” campaigning going on at a church function on the hill with K of C members present including our then famous ex-priest. Of course you know Mother Mary was present as well. Shame on them all. I believe some prior members saw the same things and left the organization over the years because of it. The main reason I never joined after being asked many times by Lenny himself.

I’m sorry if my comments upset you .. but again people need to know of our towns’ history good and bad. There is an election coming up and people need to truly understand who each is, and who each knows. It should be very clear to us now of whom Mr. Laura and Mr. Poulin’s campaign manager is . It is also transparent to all that they don’t have what it takes to hold office if they can’t rebuttal the comments made on this website themselves. Maybe the phone line to Camp Mary has been busy ?

Mr. Baker has shown me reasons to vote for him which is more than I can say for the other candidates. I am still waiting on them to convince me otherwise.

Both ways? You off the meds again? One issue in 30 years of service does not define who I am or what I stand for. My list of accomplishments stand on their own. I am just saying that the real strength of the SC building committee lies in the folks that have done the yeoman work, and not sought the "look at me" limelight.

I think when judging someone, you need to look at the whole picture, just like when you snap a picture of a local historical home and say it is sick, you probably should think things through before jumping to conclusions!

Charlie can speak for himself, and I am sure he is doing just that. Perhaps his style and approach is not via either blog, but in person, meeting folks, and answering their questions.

The Poulin family as a whole has been involved in our community for decades. Charlie was a call firefighter for many years, serving along side his dad. His dad was one of the first men recruited to establish the second fire station, brought on line on 7/1/1973. Young Charlie certainly caught the public service bug from his dad, who among other things was involved with the Chestnut Hill Community club and many other organizations.

There are more examples of this family and their contribution to our community. I am glad that Charlie recognizes the "tight knit" community that he grew up in. We need folks like that to help lead our town now. It is sad that folks - that don't sign their name - want to make a mockery of the canididates statements.

While you seem bitter about all of the candidates in the election, at least they showed enough interest and backbone to put their names on the ballot ( and also left their private lives and family out there for all to see ). Mr Baker in my opinion I think that your commenting on A.Lincoln and Mike's post is a conflict. With your hat in the ring maybe you should not comment on this type of post.Think about it,after all it really is just hearsay.

I have known the Poulin's for a very long time and they are a great family.
I can say that Charlie is running for a good reason and that is to bring the integrity back to town politics.
He says "I will make a difference. I hope to bring this town back to the tight-knit, family-oriented community in which I grew up. I want the townspeople to be able to come forward with the questions and concerns, always feeling at ease to address the board. Sincerity, open-mindedness, and unity is what I bring to this community." and I believe him!
You know what? I dont like the present board and nor do I like the former Chief so I guess that leaves me as a very unbiased person/citizen and Voter.

I would agree that it would be the wrong reason to run, that is for sure. I would hope each of the candidates would bring his/her skills and vision to their position, and not be about settling scores.

What is done, is done. What Millville needs is someone to be willing to ask the tough questions, and also do what is right for everyone. Hopefully with a bit less arogance than what I have seen in the last few years....
